Prime Minister launches the Accelerator for Enterprising Women Kickstarter Challenge

It’s not everyday you get to meet the Prime Minister.

But that’s exactly what happened this week for a group of Enterprising Girls, when ScoMo dropped in to officially launch the Kickstarter challenge – a competition open to any woman aged 18 to 24 who wants to take their business to the next level.
Speaking to a packed room of industry experts, small and big business owners and young women, the Prime Minister urged tomorrow’s female business to enter.

“Five successful entrepreneurs will share a portion of $60,000 seed capital funding to help their businesses come to life as a result of this program. And that’s something worth having a go at,” said the Prime Minister.

“We want all Australians to be equally benefiting in the opportunities that are there and I think the Enterprising Women programme does that. It gets you on the platform, it gets you in the space, it gets you the opportunity,” Mr Morrison added.

And it’s not just $60,000 up for grabs. Those who can apply can also win mentorship opportunities with industry experts and a trip to Canberra to pitch their business or entrepreneurial idea to a panel of judges at the National Final in Canberra in October this year.

One finalist from the following five categories will be selected to fly to Canberra:

  • Popular Vote – Promote your entry on social media and let Australia decide.
  • Implementation – Demonstrate how you will successfully implement your idea by providing a feasible timeline, potential challenges and solutions.
  • Sustainability & Impact – How will your idea be sustained over time? Think about any potential environmental impacts and how you can minimise them?
  • Innovation – Demonstrate the need for your business, think outside the box with your solution and the problem you are helping to solve for your customer.
  • Presentation – Give us your best elevator pitch – sell us your idea any way you like! We are looking for entries that are convincing and creative in their pitch.

Entries can be in the form of a business plan, pitch video, voice-recorded powerpoint presentation, piece of marketing material or prototype – the more creative the better.

Need help with your entry? Why not attend a free Incubator Workshop to help you fine tune your idea, develop a brand, build a business model and take part in a pitching masterclass.

You have until 17 October 2021 at 5.00pm (AEST) to submit your idea, with voting to start on 1 August and concluding on 14 November.

As the Prime Minister says, “you have to have a go to have a go,” so why not apply today!
