Megan Del Borrello
Founder Behind the Brands

Megan Del Borrello’s mission is to empower and advance women through entrepreneurship, having experienced gender bias in her professional career. She is the Founder of Behind the Brands, an ecosystem and community for female founders, that support them in building a profitable and sustainable business.
Named as one of Inside Small Businesses Top 50 Small Business Leaders in 2019, Megan has over 20 years marketing experience and is a member of the Australian Institute of Marketing and Alumni of WA Leaders.
She has been a speaker for various seminars, business associations and private companies including Women in Business Forum, Big Ideas Rural, City of Canning, City of Melville, Willetton Senior High School, APSMA, Nifnex, Reece Plumbing, Swimming Pools & Spas Association of WA, Master Painters Association and contributes and features in the media on a regular basis.

Katharine Giles
CEO and Managing Director OncoRes Medical

Dr Katharine Giles has dedicated her career to improving the health and wellbeing of patients and their families through the development and application of novel technologies and is a passionate advocate for Western Australian innovation. Katharine is currently Managing Director and CEO of OncoRes Medical, a Perth-based company focused on improving the accuracy of breast cancer surgery and eliminating the physical, psychological and economic burdens associated with repeat operations. Katharine is a Venture Partner at Brandon Capital Partners, a venture capital firm devoted to developing and supporting Australian life sciences businesses, a Director of Respirion Pharmaceuticals and a member of the Curtin Commercialisation Advisory Board.

Romy Lawson
Interim Vice Chancellor Murdoch University

Romy Lawson is the Interim Vice Chancellor at Murdoch University and was previously the Deputy-Vice-Chancellor (Education). Prior to this she held the positions of Pro Vice Chancellor Education at Edith Cowan University, Director of Learning, Teaching Curriculum at the University of Wollongong and Associate Dean (Teaching & Learning) at James Cook University.
She has been actively involved in teaching and learning development in higher education for over 20 years in both the UK and Australia. Romy led the National OLT Strategic Priority Project on Strategies for Curriculum Mapping and Data Collection for Assurance of Learning, and has been a team member in other ALTC funded projects including: Embedding Professionally Relevant Learning in Business Education; and Facilitating staff and student engagement with graduate attribute development, assessment and standards in Business Faculties. In 2013 she was awarded a National OLT Teaching Fellowship for work on Curriculum Design for Assuring Learning.
Her research has focused on constructive alignment in curriculum design; the effect of different assessment on student learning; curriculum mapping; leadership strategies for curriculum renewal; embedding professional learning in the curriculum; engaging staff and students with graduate attributes; and the impact of professional development on teaching. She has also been an associate editor for the HERD Journal, and senior editor for the Journal of University of Teaching and Learning Practice. She has also held executive roles on national associations including HERDSA, CADAD and ALTF.

Elizabeth Knight
Founder and Director Purposeful

Elizabeth Knight is an entrepreneur with a big dream to transform our education system and how we prepare young people for their futures here in WA.
She is the founder of Purposeful, a ed-tech startup helping students to find their place in the world, through their self-exploration and purpose-discovery programs.
During her time at university, she is fortunate to have led Bloom, a youth-led incubator that acts as the catalyst for early stage founders to begin their entrepreneurial journey in WA.
She is a Fogarty Scholar, a TEDx presenter, Plus 8 accelerator participant and in 2019 received the Boston Consulting Group Scholarship for Australia & New Zealand.

Lacey Filipich
Founder and Director
Money School and Maker Kids Club

Lacey Filipich helps people become financially independent and reclaim their lives. Thousands around the world have used her Money School courses to liberate themselves from debt, start saving and raise financially capable kids. Money School is also the title of her first non-fiction book, out now with Penguin Life. Lacey graduated as valedictorian from the University of Queensland with an Honours degree in Chemical Engineering (if you want to find out how a chemical engineer ends up teaching people about money, check out her TEDx talk.) Lacey is also the winner of a 2019 Business News ’40 under 40’ Award.

Bec Thompson
Director and Founder Sandbar Co

Bec Thompson is the Director and Founder of the Perth-based business Sandbar Co, which launched in August, 2020, and has successfully sold over 120 of her patent-pending beach tables. Since selling her own books to her family at the age of 6 and washing the neighbours’ cars at the age of 10, Bec has always had an entrepreneurial mindset. 
In 2016, Bec successfully exited her first business, Raw Out Loud, a raw dessert company that supplied to over 25 cafes in Perth. And more recently, Bec took home second place in Murdoch University’s Think Big Entrepreneur Competition in 2019.

Got a business or entrepreneurial idea you’ve always wanted to bring to life? Join not-for-profit social enterprise Young Change Agents (YCA) and industry professionals. In this interactive session exploring problems, reframing them as opportunities and identifying their root causes.

Learn ideation techniques and begin your validation process as you prepare your idea for submission into the Kickstarter Challenge.
