Kickstarter program for new Australian female entrepreneurs launched in Canberra

The Accelerator for Enterprising Women’s Mim Rizvi says it’s so important that the government supports women in entrepreneurship as only 36 per cent of small businesses are owned by women.

“When you think about the amazing pool of talent that we have of women in Australia, that statistic just doesn’t really make sense,” she told Sky News Australia.

“There are a lot of barriers that are stopping women from taking the next steps into entrepreneurship.

“That could be because they don’t feel they have skills, maybe they are afraid of failure, another really big one is they don’t often get the funding they required.

“Which is why we have developed the Kickstarter competition where we are giving away $60,000 worth of funding to the five finalists”.
