Kickstarter expert panel revealed

The Accelerator for Enterprising Women’s Kickstarter Challenge is nearing its Grand Final and we are excited to reveal the expert judging panel. 

Their combined experience encompasses start-ups, finance, venture capital, science, technology, government, small business and pitching on a worldwide stage.

Lauren Capelin is Principal at Startmate, Australia and New Zealand’s best startup accelerator. She is a community strategist and disruptive innovation specialist and in her previous role, focused on investing in disruptive financial services startups.

Sophia Hamblin Wang is the Chief Operating Officer at Mineral Carbonation International and she recently beat 2,700 worldwide competitors in a best business pitch competition on day three of the COP26 summit in Glasgow. Sophia knows a great presentation when she sees one!

Julian Potter is the Group Country Manager for Visa in Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific. During his career, he has led businesses through their start-up, transformation and accelerated growth phases.

Amanda Whitley is no stranger to start-ups, having built Her Canberra, Canberra’s leading lifestyle media brand, from the ground up. She is now Partner and Head of Communications with creative agency, Coordinate.

Stef Lovett joined Google in September 2019 as the Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy (AuNZ) for Google Cloud. She has 20 years’ experience in public and corporate affairs and is a passionate advocate for promoting women in business and leadership.

On Wednesday, 16 February 2022, the five Kickstarter Challenge finalists, will pitch their business ideas to the judges at Questacon in Canberra. The panel will determine the winner, who will walk away with $30,000 in seed funding and each runner up will receive $7,500 to put towards their businesses. This generous prize is supported by our partners, Visa, who are also offering each finalist mentoring sessions with experts across a range of business and entrepreneurship fields.
